Crawl Space Encapsulation in Pasadena 1

A Cleaner Barrier Beneath the Home

Crawl Space Encapsulation in Pasadena, CA

At ELM Insulation and Sound Solutions, we recently completed a crawl space encapsulation project in Pasadena. The homeowner wanted to address an exposed crawl space that was vulnerable to outside moisture, dirt, and unwanted pests.

With bare soil beneath the home and limited protection from the surrounding environment, the crawl space needed a more complete barrier.

Our team installed a crawl space encapsulation system across the exposed ground and along the foundation walls.

Unlike traditional insulation, which primarily slows heat transfer, encapsulation creates a physical barrier between the home and the soil below to help control moisture and create a cleaner, better-protected crawl space.

Our crawl space was exposed dirt and we were concerned about moisture and rodents getting underneath the house. ELM installed the new barrier throughout the space, and everything underneath the home now feels much cleaner!

The Concern

The crawl space beneath this Pasadena home had exposed soil with very little separation between the underside of the house and the ground below.

This left the area vulnerable to ground moisture, dirt, outside air, and conditions that could attract rodents and other pests.

The homeowner wanted a solution that went beyond adding insulation. Their priority was creating a cleaner, more controlled crawl space that provided better separation from the exposed earth and surrounding environment.

The Solution

Our experienced crew prepared the crawl space and installed a durable encapsulation membrane across the exposed dirt floor and up portions of the foundation walls.

Crawl space encapsulation works by covering exposed soil with a protective vapor barrier and carefully fitting the material around structural supports, ductwork, utilities, and other obstacles.

The barrier helps limit moisture vapor rising from the ground while creating a cleaner separation between the soil and the home.

Unlike traditional fiberglass insulation, which is designed primarily to resist heat transfer, encapsulation focuses on controlling ground moisture and isolating the crawl space from exposed soil. The two systems can complement one another, but they perform different jobs within the home.

The Result

The completed crawl space now has a cleaner, more protected surface separating the home from the exposed ground below.

By encapsulating the dirt floor and extending the barrier along the crawl space perimeter, the homeowner gained an additional layer of protection against ground moisture, dirt, and outside conditions.

The upgraded space is also less hospitable to rodents than the previously exposed crawl space while providing a cleaner environment around the home’s ductwork and structural components.

ELM Insulation and Sound Solutions proudly provides crawl space encapsulation services in Pasadena, helping homeowners protect the areas beneath their homes and create cleaner, better-controlled crawl spaces.
