The Concern

The crawl space’s old insulation was deteriorated and no longer providing effective protection, allowing heat and outdoor air to affect the floors above and contributing to uncomfortable temperature swings throughout the home.

This outdated material, combined with unsealed gaps and signs of rodent activity, led to musty odors, dust, and contaminants moving into the living spaces.

As a result, the homeowner’s AC system had to work harder to keep the house comfortable, increasing energy use and reducing overall indoor air quality.

The Solution

Our skilled crew began by safely removing the old insulation from the crawl space, along with debris and any contaminated material, to eliminate sources of dust and odors.

After a thorough inspection, we sealed visible gaps, penetrations, and perimeter openings to block drafts and moisture while also closing off areas where rodents could enter or nest, effectively integrating rodent proofing into the upgrade.

We then installed crawl space mineral wool insulation throughout the crawl space, providing excellent thermal performance, fire resistance, and sound absorption for the home above.

The mineral wool was carefully fitted between floor joists to ensure consistent coverage and optimal efficiency, creating a well-insulated, cleaner, and healthier crawl space environment.
